Weekends At A Time Shapes And Sizes

Shapes & Sizes
“Weekends At A Time”

Generally, I do not pay close attention to lyrics the first few times that I hear a song, and so I often find myself in a position where my initial impression of a song’s lyrical content is revealed to be hilariously off the mark. Until I actually paid full attention to the words, I’d somehow gotten the idea that this song was about this woman imagining weekend vacations as a sort of heroic expedition, and trying to convince her companion that going hiking in the mountains, exploring quaint towns, or renting out a beach house is some kind of noble calling. But no, that’s not it at all, and now my apparent desire for an art rock version of the New York Times travel section is revealed to you all. (Originally posted 5/1/2006)

NEW Annuals: “Loxtep”

It might not be their best song but it is nice to hear them go back to a their older sound. I mean it isn’t exactly like “Be He Me”, which is a good thing, but I am thrilled they are coming back from “Fun”, which let’s be honest was just a little boring.

Spencer Krug

Spencer Krug recently released the “Dreamland EP” under the name Moonface. I just got around to listening to it and I have to say it is might be his best yet, definitely since “Shut Up I Am Dreaming”. The EP is a single 20 minute long track titled “marimba and shit drums”, and can be downloaded off his site (Moonface.ca) for whatever price you would like. There is a pretty lengthy preview at this blog, but I will say it does not even begin to get to to best part of the song.

Lost sleep

I didn’t sleep tuesday, and I would like to blame ABC for moving LOST from Wenesday nights for their ridiculously lame comedy night, but to be honest I worked on building a model during lost, at about the same a pace I would have otherwise, but I don’t really want to have to that again. Seeing that I have the same class every Wednesday, but don’t want to do home work during lost, so it would seem that all hope for a good nights sleep on Tuesdays has been ruined…
